At the Law Office of Daniel Freyberg, in Merritt Island, we take the time to learn and understand your needs, as well as any external factors that may affect your situation, so that we can aggressively and professionally resolve your family law matter. We will help you look for ways to quickly and amicably resolve your issues, but always will place a priority on protecting your rights, including taking your case to court when necessary. Contact our offices to set up a confidential consultation to discuss your family law matter today.
In our comprehensive family law practice, we handle:
Divorce. We handle all matters related to divorce, including child custody and visitation, child support, alimony or spousal support, and the division of marital property. See our divorce page for more information.
Paternity. We represent men and women in paternity actions. We can help you, whether you are attempting to prove paternity to get child support or custody and visitation rights, or you are seeking to challenge an assertion of fatherhood.
Dependency cases. If you are involved in a legal proceeding regarding your rights as a parent, whether involving allegations of abuse, abandonment or neglect, you need an experienced and understanding lawyer. We have experience serving as guardian ad litem in Brevard County, representing the interests of children in dependency hearings. We understand both sides of the process and can help you make the best case to protect your rights as a parent.
Modification or enforcement of divorce decrees. If circumstances have changed after your divorce has become final, we can help you seek and obtain modifications to orders governing child custody, visitation or support. If you have experienced a substantial change of financial or other circumstances, such that the original basis of these orders no longer reflects your situation, it is worth considering a modification. Moreover, if your ex-spouse is violating the terms of any divorce-related order, we will help you seek enforcement of the order.
Relocation of children. If you want to relocate within or outside of Florida and your move will have an effect on existing visitation or custody agreements, there are specific steps you must take to comply with Florida law. We will protect your interests, whether you seek to relocate or to prevent relocation, and make sure your actions comply with the law.
Stepparent adoptions. If you have remarried and your new spouse wants to legally adopt your minor children, we will explain the process, work to gain consent of the natural parent, prepare the necessary paperwork and appear at all hearings on your behalf. We will act as the stewards of the adoption process, from beginning to end, all the way through to the final adoption and issuance of a new birth certificate.
Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. If you are considering getting married or are already married and have substantial assets, we can help you prepare an agreement that governs the division of your assets upon death, divorce or separation. Having a properly drafted prenuptial or postnuptial agreement gives you the best chance of protecting your assets and/or distributing them according to your wishes in the event the relationship does not work out or you pass away.
Name changes. We will handle all the paperwork and any court proceedings to help you or a dependent legally change names.
